Just placed my order for the limited edition red planner. Now I have a solid 8 months to stare at it when writing at my desk.

I like the paper in the blank Cahiers....it seems a little heavier than other moleskine paper (?) and works better with a fountain pen. Does anyone know if the paper in the regular blank moleskines is the same as the Cahiers?

This means not too much longer for the 18 month pocket diary/notebook... The atticipation is making my toes tingle!

Holding out for the softcover pocket...

Jack - It is a thing of beauty!
Patrick & Kathy - I won't be long now!

The paper seems to be the same between the Cahiers & the Classic Moleskines. If there is a difference then it is very subtle - at least I haven't noticed it.
Thanks all! - Ninth Wave

Mine arrived on Saturday. That's what I call service!
I really like some of the changes made to this edition, specifically, the monthly planner section now has only three months per page, which makes the line for each day a little longer and better able to accommodate more than one event. Plus there's a "real" calendar view of the year, which I like. My only disappointment was the lack of an address book, but the good news is that there are several notes pages at the end which should be plenty of room for the addresses and phone numbers I need most.

Make that four months per two page spread in the monthly planner section rather than the current six months per two page spread. But the result is the same -- a longer line for each day on which to note events.

You should try taking your address book from this years planner to put into the 2007 version. It should fit in the back without adding too much bulk. Thanks so much for your order! - Ninth Wave

Not to be a pest, but what about the 18 month calendars? I'm dying here....there are things that need to be scheduled and I don't have a cute book yet to do it in. :-)
Just checking! Thanks!

YEAH!!!!
I'm going right over to your store and ordering one! You're the best! Thank you!

I received mine the other day, and couldn't resist opening it. I think I'm going to like the note page across from each week's calendar.
I hid it from my family--they wouldn't understand the wisdom of purchasing an '07 calendar in May!

re: the pocket 18 month planner - despite what the external flap says, the back pocket is not expandable. I've written to Moleskine and they agree ...

Michael -
The blurb on the back of the softcover planners uses the same language "expandable inner pocket" as they do for the classic planners. Keeping this language the same wasn't a good choice on M & M's part, considering there is a big difference in the design of the inner pocket of these two classes of planners.
In an attempt to be clearer, I describe the classic Moleskine inner pocket as "expandable accordion" and the softcover planner pocket as "non-expandable" in my store listings. There is a tiny bit of give in the softcover planner back pocket, and an attempt at a gusset, but there isn't room for anywhere near the same amount of stuff as the classic pocket. Compared to the pocket in the Cahiers, it is a definite design improvement, and at least has some functionality compared to that one. The softcover planners are the budget planners for Moleskine, and as such have fewer features than the more expensive Classic planners. I see the Cahier line and the softcover planner line as being designed to target a particular purchase price - under $10 - to expand the market for people looking for nice notebooks & planners at a lower price point than the classic hardcover Moleskines that we all love.

I am considering between 18-month soft cover, and 12-month red hard cover. Hence I think sincere comments from NWD are something great I rarely expect from a distributor. Thank you.

Arthiti P -
The 18 month softcover planners do have their good qualities - the flexibility of the planner is great if you like to carry it around in your pocket for example. Plus it is 18 months for the price of 12, and can be put to work right now for those who need a planner and don't want to wait until January. But if you place extra value on the storage capacity of the back pocket, then the hardcover planners are the way to go. Since Moleskine has given us so many to choose from, at a range of prices, the different formats will suit different needs depending on the person buying them. Thanks for your comment. - NW
